A Message from the Principal

Dear Hygiene Community,

It has been a very exciting week at Hygiene! First and foremost, I am thrilled to announce that our students have once again showcased their incredible dedication to reading and learning. We are celebrating a fantastic victory in the recent MyOn Challenge, where Hygiene Elementary secured first place in the district! It’s a testament to the value we place on literacy and the power of a united community supporting our young scholars. Way to Go Hawks!

We also had  a special assembly this week to kick off our annual Jogathon.  In advance, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our amazing Hygiene community. Your continuous support and generous donations will be instrumental in making our school thrive. As we embark on our fundraising journey for the school, with a goal  to raise $30,000, we will be asking for donations from family and friends.  All students have come home with envelopes today in Friday Folders. Your belief in our mission to provide the best education possible is truly inspiring, and together, we can achieve great things for our children. We will all have a great run together on September 28th.

And finally, I want to assure you that we are actively working with the district to resolve the mosquito issue. While we work on a solution, we will cancel the 100 Mile Club next week.

Once again, thank you for being an integral part of the Hygiene Elementary community. Your support, enthusiasm, and dedication to our students make all the difference. Let’s come together to celebrate our achievements, navigate our challenges, and ensure that our school continues to be a place of growth, learning, and inspiration for our wonderful students.

Take Care,

Renee Collier

Hygiene Principal

Attendance

As we navigate this new academic year, I would like to gently remind everyone about our attendance policy, which can be found on page 14 of our handbook. Regular attendance is crucial to our students’ success, as it ensures they have the opportunity to fully engage in the learning process and benefit from the enriching experiences we offer. To maintain a positive learning environment, we kindly request your cooperation in adhering to the following attendance guidelines:

1. 3 Total Absences: In the event of a student’s absence, a check-in or a phone call from the school.

2. 6 Total Absences: For students with a total of six absences, a letter from the school will be sent to the parents or guardians to address the importance of consistent attendance.

3. 10 Total Absences: If a student accumulates ten total absences, we will require written documentation to better understand and support their unique circumstances.

Your partnership in maintaining regular attendance helps create a positive and vibrant learning environment for all students at Hygiene Elementary. We appreciate your understanding and collaboration as we work together to provide the best educational experience for our students.

Gifted & Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they
usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
