Celebrating Academic Achievement

Dear Hygiene Community,

I hope this letter finds you well and full of excitement for the new school year. As the principal of Hygiene Elementary, I am thrilled to share with you the incredible progress we’ve made during these first two weeks of school. It’s truly heartwarming to witness the dedication and enthusiasm of our students, teachers, staff, and parents as we embark on this educational journey together.

I am elated to inform you that our students’ hard work and perseverance from last spring’s CMAS testing have yielded outstanding academic achievements. Their commitment to excellence is evident in the remarkable results that they achieved, showcasing their growth and dedication to their studies. These achievements are a testament to the collaborative efforts of our entire community and reflect the high standards we hold at Hygiene Elementary.

In addition to celebrating our academic successes, I want to recognize the commendable efforts of our students in grades 1 through 5 during the recent IREADY Testing. We just finished Reading and Math as a school.  Our teachers will use this valuable information to guide their instruction.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Labor Day and a great start to a new month.

Once again, congratulations on a successful start to the school year. Let’s continue to celebrate our achievements, support one another, and nurture the growth of our students in the coming months.

Thank you for being an integral part of our Hygiene community.

Warm regards,

Renee Collier

Attendance

As we navigate this new academic year, I would like to gently remind everyone about our attendance policy, which can be found on page 14 of our handbook. Regular attendance is crucial to our students’ success, as it ensures they have the opportunity to fully engage in the learning process and benefit from the enriching experiences we offer. To maintain a positive learning environment, we kindly request your cooperation in adhering to the following attendance guidelines:

1. 3 Total Absences: In the event of a student’s absence, a check-in or a phone call from the school.

2. 6 Total Absences: For students with a total of six absences, a letter from the school will be sent to the parents or guardians to address the importance of consistent attendance.

3. 10 Total Absences: If a student accumulates ten total absences, we will require written documentation to better understand and support their unique circumstances.

Your partnership in maintaining regular attendance helps create a positive and vibrant learning environment for all students at Hygiene Elementary. We appreciate your understanding and collaboration as we work together to provide the best educational experience for our students.

Gifted & Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they
usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
