A Message from the Principal
Dear Hygiene Families:
It is hard to believe that next week is the final week of the school year. I am so incredibly proud of the hard work and determination of everyone here at Hygiene.
As we enter the final weeks of the school year, I would like to take this opportunity to share important recognitions, events and celebrations before we leave for the summer.
Please join me in thanking the following staff members who will be moving on to different adventures: Melissa Brakel, Chandler Isom and Mary Cobb. Their time and commitment to the Hygiene community has been outstanding and we will miss all of these professionals.
Hawk Air UK was truly outstanding! The students and parents prepared for months and it was truly a wonderful experience. This yearly capstone event can only happen for our students as a result of a strong community that includes an incredible amount of volunteers. I want to sincerely thank our PTO and all the parents who supported this event for our students and community. It is so greatly appreciated. Our students will be voting on next year’s destination next week and then we will announce it.
I want to take this opportunity to explain the end of the year reminders and celebrations. On May 24th, we will have our 5th grade continuation ceremony at 2:30 pm. This is always a celebration to see our leaders transition to middle school. Please join me in congratulating this awesome job of students.
May 25th is our last official day of school and we will have several things planned for this day. We will start the day with Games Day for K-5th grade in the back field. This event will go from 9:30-11:00 am. At that time, all students will come into the building one final time to be with their teachers and have a final classroom closure before ending the year. At 12:00 pm, our All School Picnic will begin in the south side Hug n Go area. All classroom teachers will escort their students outside for a final picnic that includes family and friends. Sack lunches will be provided for the students. Families, please feel free to set up your spot when dropping off your child. We will also have Kona Ice here for purchase. It should be a great way to start our summer. After the picnic, parents are welcome to take their child home after communicating with the teacher.
As we move into the summer, here are some important timelines. We will be developing class lists throughout the summer as well as teacher grade level configurations. Due to the changes that will be happening throughout the summer, we will communicate your child’s class placement August 11th, 2023. The first day of school for Grades 1-5 is August 16 and the first day of school for Kindergarten is August 18. Preschool will begin on August 21. All families will receive a welcome back letter from the school the first week of August outlining detailed information.
As I reflect back on the 2022-2023 academic year, I want to thank you all for the continued partnership. I am very proud of the resiliency and perseverance of our students. I feel fortunate to work with all of you and to serve the Hygiene Community and I am looking forward to an exciting end of the school year and seeing everyone next week at Games Day and the All School Picnic.
