Innovations Academy / STEM / Design Guild / IC Summer Camps

St. Vrain Valley School District Innovation Academy

Hey, innovators! We’re looking for students who are risk-takers, thinkers,  curious, persistent, creative, and interdependent. Join us at Innovation Academy for a two weeks of design thinking, inquiry-based learning, and lots and lots of prototyping, where you’ll have tons of fun as we find solutions to problems with food, transportation and buildings. We’ll use the human-centered process Design Thinking to uncover needs, brainstorm ideas, and bring some of those ideas to life!  Check out this link for more information or to register! Registration is open now!

Parents of students in grades K-2,

Innovation Academy is open for registration!  If your child is currently in kindergarten, first, or second grade, please access this link or go to innovation.svvsd.org to find out more!

  • Have a 3rd-5th grader? No problem! The Innovation Center has programming for older students too!  Check us out for more information.
  • Once at the Innovation Center website, choose menu / programs / summer programs to find information and to register for IA!
  • As always, if you are unable to register online,  please contact us via email or call the IC. We can provide support in English OR Spanish.
    • Parents can call the IC directly @303-702-8200 to speak with Socorro (Coco) Marquez
    • All parents can also email me at [email protected]

STEM NIGHT

Step into STEM this May at the Innovation Center!  You’re invited to celebrate STEM at the Innovation Center on Tuesday, May 9, from 4:30-6:30.  We’ll have STEM Stations, Parent Tech Talks, Rosie the Tarantula visiting from the Butterfly Pavilion, the Mobile Innovation Lab, UC Health and more! More information can be found at Design Guild/STEM Fair

STUDENT DESIGN GUILD

Does your child constantly seek out solutions to problems they encounter?  Are they always designing, brainstorming, building and prototyping?  Consider having your child enter the Student Design Guild where they can share and showcase their prototype of a problem they want to solve.  At this year’s Design Guild, students can use Design Thinking, a human-centered, problem-seeking, problem-solving approach, to finding answers for many of the world’s issues.

  • Click this Design Guild link for information on how to participate!

IC Summer Camps

The Innovation Center is excited to hold summer camps that offer innovative, hands-on learning experiences that engage and challenge students and incorporate human-centered design thinking.  Registration is open! Learn more about Innovation Center Summer Camps here.

100 Mile Club

LAST DAY OF 100 MILE CLUB – TUESDAY, MAY 2!!!

We will officially have the McIntosh Run on May 6th.

I will be at Dawson Park from 9AM-11AM. When planning for arrival, keep in mind that you will need to be done running by 11AM in order to receive your credit. I will be staying at Dawson Park the entire time and will not be watching students who are running, so please plan accordingly.

Everyone is welcome to come, even if you did not originally tell me you would be interested!

As a reminder, the BOLDER Boulder ends registration on April 27th. Here is the link to register if you are wanting to attend. It does not count towards 100 mile club (because it is after school is over), but is still a wonderful community event. If you have any trouble registering, I am happy to put you in contact with the event coordinator.
