Mary Magee attended Carleton College in Minnesota. She student-taught through the Urban Education Program in Chicago, where she studied science education as well as methods of teaching English (ESL) and teaching Spanish Language arts.  Her instructors included Alma Flor Ada, who has since gone on to author many children's books. Mary enjoys singing and reading with her students, cooking,  and biking.
