Happy New Year and a message from Ms Collier!
Happy New Year! We hope you had a joyful and restful holiday season and were able to spend meaningful time with family and loved ones. As we welcome 2026, we are excited to begin another wonderful chapter together at Hygiene Elementary.
January is always a vibrant and engaging month, and it begins with one of our most epic community traditions. HAWK AIR! This year we travel to —United Arab Emirates 2026. Through this immersive experience, our school will be transformed as students explore culture, geography, and global connections before traveling virtually with the help of our incredible volunteers. We invite families to join us in planning this special event. Upcoming planning meetings will be held in the library on:
- January 8 at 8:00 a.m.
- January 14 at 5:30 p.m.
- January 22 at 5:30 p.m.
We also have several important dates to keep on your calendar:
- Yearbook Cover Entry forms are due January 15
- STEAM Fair entries are due January 16
- Spelling Bee – January 21
- STEAM Fair – January 28–29
We look forward to welcoming students and staff back on Tuesday, January 6, and are eager to begin a month filled with learning, creativity, and community connection.

Open Enrollment and Online Registration is open.
Preschool Registration is open.
Registration for St. Vrain Valley Schools’ 2026-27 preschool programs begin Dec. 9, 2025. Families can choose from high-quality, five-day programs, including half-day and select full-day options at schools across St. Vrain. The Colorado Universal Preschool (UPK) application is included in St. Vrain’s form, and families are encouraged to apply early for the best chance of placement at their preferred school.

Community Schools
Come Join The Hub for fun before and after school! Looking for a safe, engaging, and creative spot for your child? The Hub is the place to be! We focus on making real connections, whether it’s Hanging out with friends you already know or
making a new friend. With flexible day options, we keep the fun going until closing time at 6:00PM. Kids can dive into a rotating mix of activities, reading, science projects and math games. We have some classic board games, cool magnets, hands-on crafts, and the ever-popular Perler Beads. We also have Legos, Lincoln Logs and building with blocks. Come be creative with us!
The Registration is $50.00 for one child and $75.00 for a family with more than 1 child for the entire year. We are open from 7-9AM ($16.00). Breakfast is served at 8:45 AM. We are open from 3:45-6:00 PM in the afternoon/evening, ($20.00). Snack is provided at 3:55.

All School Spelling Bee is in January!
All-School Spelling Bee – January 21, 2026
The top 5 spellers from each grade (3rd-5th) get to participate in the All-School Spelling Bee on January 21. A new word list was sent home with each of those winners to continue practicing. Extra copies are available in the office. An additional resource for studying that is available this year is the Word Club App. We will be using the Spelling Modes only (not the Vocabulary Modes).
