WAY TO SOAR HYGIENE HAWKS!!!!
Three SVVSD schools win reading growth award!!!!
Three St. Vrain Valley elementary schools recently were recognized for growth in reading with the national i-Ready Stretch Growth award.
The three schools are Hygiene Elementary, Longmont Estates Elementary and Lyons Elementary. Altogether, 13 schools in Colorado and 171 schools nationwide received the award this year.
The i-Ready program is designed to support personalized learning for students in grades K-12, focusing on language arts and math. “Stretch growth” highlights the progress required for a student to be on the path to grade-level proficiency.
To qualify for the award, at least 55% of a school’s students must reach the stretch growth benchmark in reading. The school also must enroll at least 200 students.
A Special Note from the Principal
I want to sincerely thank our PTO, Community, Teachers, Staff, and Students for their exceptional hard work and commitment to academic achievement!! I am so incredibly proud!!

Welcome Back!!!
Dear Hygiene Community,
Welcome back and welcome kindergarteners! We hope this letter finds you well and ready for an exciting new school year. As we embark on this journey together, we want to extend our warmest greetings to all our students, parents, faculty, and staff who make up the vibrant and dynamic Hygiene community. This is my twelfth year as the principal of Hygiene and I am truly honored to serve this community.
We trust that your summer was filled with relaxation, exploration, and rejuvenation. As we transition into the fall season, we are eager to see each of you return with enthusiasm and a renewed commitment to maintaining a healthy and positive learning environment.
Off to a Great School Year:
The beginning of a new school year is a time of fresh starts and new opportunities. We encourage all students to approach this year with a positive mindset, open to learning, growing, and embracing the challenges that lie ahead. Our dedicated teachers and staff are here to support and guide you on your educational journey.
Reminder for Water Bottles:
Staying hydrated is essential for maintaining good health and focus throughout the school day. We kindly remind all students to bring their reusable water bottles to school daily. Hydration stations are conveniently located throughout the campus, providing access to clean and refreshing water. Let’s make sure we’re all taking care of ourselves by drinking enough water throughout the day.
Hygiene Attendance Policy:
As part of our commitment to fostering a strong learning community, we would like to reiterate the importance of regular attendance. Our student handbook outlines the attendance policy, which is designed to ensure that each student receives the best possible education. Attending classes consistently not only supports their academic progress but also enhances their participation in classroom discussions, group activities, and extracurricular events.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally arise. If you find that your student is unable to attend school due to illness or other valid reasons, we request that parents or guardians notify the school office as soon as possible. By working together to maintain open communication, we can help students stay on track and make the most of their education.
Here is our policy for the following absences:
3 Total Absences – A phone call from the school office & counselor
6 Total Absences- A letter will be sent home from the school.
10 Total Absences- Must have written documentation from the doctor
12 Total Absences- A referral to attendance advocate
We look forward to a year filled with academic achievements, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. As we reconnect with familiar faces and welcome new ones, let us remember the values that define our Hygiene community: respect, responsibility, and resilience.
If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas to share, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to listen and collaborate with you to ensure that this school year is a successful and enriching one.
Wishing you all the best for the upcoming year!
