May Letter from the Principal

Dear Hygiene Families:
It is hard to believe that I am writing the last newsletter of the 2017-2018 school year.
This spring has flown by and before we know it, we will all be enjoying the long summer
days with our loved ones.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to our
highly talented PTO Board. Please join me in thanking the following PTO members as
they complete the 2017-2018 school year: Monica Smetana, Karen Palmarini, Maryam
Moore, Katie Gaddis, Tyra Pritt, Jody McCain, Adrienne Fredericks, Andi Henry, and Jill
Allington. We so appreciate all the work they do for our school.
As we enter the final month of the school year, I want to take this opportunity to highlight
some celebrations and events we have planned for our Soaring students, staff and
community.
As we plan for the upcoming year, we would like to inform all students and parents of
their upcoming teacher. During the week of May 16, parents will be notified who their
child’s teacher will be for the upcoming school year. On May 23, we will have a Move
Up Day school wide where your child will meet new teacher for the 2018-2019 school
year. This will help alleviate fears and relationships can begin to form early on to ensure
even a smoother transition. We are very excited for this as a staff.
Parents, please mark your calendars for May 22nd. We will be holding our continuation
ceremonies for kindergarten and 5th grade. The kindergarten ceremony will begin at
10:00 am and the 5th grade continuation ceremony will begin at 1:30. We are looking
forward to celebrating these milestones with our sweet students so please join us in the
celebration.
Our last day of school is May 24th. For all those families who are new to the Hygiene
Community, this is a very special day for the entire community. All families are invited
to attend our end of the year celebration and picnic that begins at 12:00 on the south
lawn. Please see the detailed information in this newsletter.
As I reflect back on the 2017-2018 academic year, I want to thank you for your
outstanding support and generous contributions to our school. I feel fortunate to work
with all of you and to serve the Hygiene Community and look forward to seeing everyone
on May 24th at the end of the year picnic.
Sincerely,
Renee Collier, Principal
