January Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome Back Hygiene Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break with their loved ones and are ready for the 2018 year.  I want to take this opportunity to thank all the families and students who continue to support our school in the myOn Challenge.  We are fortunate enough to have a very supportive community that supports our school and district.  In the past we have placed in the top 3 in the district, we hope that is true once again when the results are in for the Winter Challenge.  January is a very exciting time at our school as we have numerous school wide events planned for our students.  Our students and teachers will be finalizing their Hawk Air prototypes as we prepare to take off into the future in March for Hawk Air.   I look forward to starting our journey together into the future and want to thank all the parents in advance for helping us create a futuristic city.  We couldn’t do it without all the parents and volunteers we have in our school.

The month of December was very exciting.  The Jingle Bell Run on December 9th couldn’t have been more magical with our visit from Mr. Claus!  Our 100 Mile Club has blossomed and taken off.  Thank you Ms Newell and the parent volunteers for helping make this happen.  In addition, our annual Arts Night for our primary classes with a special choir performance was outstanding.

As we enter the flu season, please continue to remind your child the importance of washing hands, wearing hats and gloves when it is cold outside and staying healthy every day by drinking water.  We do not want students at school who are sick.  Health and safety for all is our priority at Hygiene.

The month of January will be extremely busy and exciting as we kick off our new attendance initiative. We will begin recognizing those students who have perfect attendance for the month by rewarding them with a charm necklace. Every day counts and therefore, our goal is to increase our attendance rate on a monthly basis.  In addition, we have our awesome STEAM Fair and it is not too late to have your child sign up!  We are very excited about the opportunities for our students to use the Scientific Process or the Design Thinking Process and can’t wait to see the innovative and problem solving inventions or discoveries. Please mark your calendars for January 25-26th  for this event.  We will have a Spaghetti Dinner during the Open House on January 25 from 5:30-7:30 pm.  It will be a wonderful evening and great opportunity to meet other families while having a spaghetti dinner.

Finally, please mark your calendars for our Parent Teacher Conferences January 29, 30, 31st. We will have the same process for signing up electronically as we did in the fall.  More information will be coming in the upcoming weeks.

Happy New Year,

Renee Collier
