October Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We have a great deal to celebrate at Hygiene! We won MyOn Summer Reading Challenge and now, get ready to celebrate the fall season with several activities and events lined up for our students.  Our 100 Mile Club has officially kicked off!  It is not too late to join and run with our students and families on Tuesday and Thursdays.

The month of October is very busy with several exciting things lined up for our students! Here is a snapshot of the month with some very important dates. Our annual Jogathon is October 6th.   Students and staff are excited about the day. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and is a fun filled day that the entire family can participate in. Your generous donations go directly to your children’s classrooms and school events, like Fall Festival, Hawk Air, field trips, technology, field trips and much more. Our goal this year is $25,000. On behalf of the entire Hygiene staff, we want to thank you in advance for your generosity and support with this fundraiser.  Our Fall Festival is October 6 starting at 5:30 pm.  This is a great community event filled with games, good food and entertainment for the students.  Please come join us and celebrate the beginning of Fall.

Are you interested in planning the capstone project of the year, Hawk Air?  If so, calling all parents and relatives to join an informative brainstorming meeting on October 3rd  at 8:00 am in the library.  This year, we are traveling to the future and students will be solving complex programs that include saving our bees, sustainable food and water sources, transportation, and creating medical advances..  Our initial meeting on October 3rd is to learn more about this extremely important event that occurs March 21st and March 22nd.  Please join us.

Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. Mark your calendars for October 9th, 10th, 11th.   The conferences will be Student Led. Your child has been working extremely hard preparing for these and therefore, it is important to come together as a team to discuss celebrations and areas of need. Also, the Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place in the library during conferences.  This is a fantastic opportunity to encourage your child literacy and support our library.  We look forward to seeing everyone during conference week. There is no school on October 13th  and October 16th  as a result of a long week of Parent Teacher Conferences.

STEAM Night is November 7th from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is our first official STEAM night at Hygiene for PreK-5 th grade. We will be highlighting STEAM which will include a variety of activities for all families to participate in. More information will be forthcoming in the upcoming weeks.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to the exciting month of October!!
