August Letter from the Principal

Dear Hygiene Families:

Our students are off to a great start.  We have had a great 3 weeks here at Hygiene.  Our Open House last night was well attended and all of us appreciate the support.  It has also been great to see so many new families join the Hygiene community.   We are extremely excited to be a STEAM Focused school and look forward to an exciting school year filled with Design Challenges!  I would like to take this opportunity to highlight some important events and celebrations.

Technology:

As part of our district’s technology plan, each classroom just received six mini iPads.  In addition, the classrooms also have Chromebooks and Mini-IPads for your child to use, thanks to your generosity from the Jogathon the past several years.  As a result, teachers are using these devices to enhance learning. Teachers will also be using Schoology as a platform for communication in class and outside class.   Please be sure to let your child’s teacher know if he/she does not have access to technology at home so that their homework is not compromised.  Remember, we need your help with the Technology agreement.  If you have not signed it, please do so as soon as possible and send it in with your child.  We will all continue to build capacity around technology so our students are equipped and prepared for the future.

Hot Days still ahead:

Parents, please remember to send a water bottle to school with your child.  Our teachers embed rigorous movement every day so that the brain is actively in motion.  Therefore, it is important that your child is getting enough water throughout the day.

Again, I want to thank you for all the support the first several weeks of school.  Strong Partnerships are the key to a thriving school!  Do not hesitate to contact me anytime.

Sincerely,

Renee Collier
