- Hello! My name is Katie Peterson and I am so excited to be back in St. Vrain Valley Schools this year! This is my 8th year teaching and 3rd at Hygiene Elementary. I am originally from Upstate New York where I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education with Special Education at SUNY Geneseo, and I began my teaching career in Champaign, IL. There, I was also able to get a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois. I am the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Silver Creek High School here in Longmont, and love being able to transfer life skills from athletics to the classroom. Perseverance, hard work, leadership and teamwork are strong foundations for success in all settings!
