Bio
It is with great pleasure and excitement to introduce myself to you.  My name is Karen Frantz. This is my 8th year at Hygiene. I began in 2014 teaching special education and transitioned into the “Early Childhood Family” in 2016. Last year with a decline in preschool enrollment (pandemic based) I entered back into teaching special education at Hygiene. I am thrilled to be back in my preschool classroom and cannot wait for another year of excitement, smiles (under those masks…), growth, accomplishments and relationships as many of my sweet preschoolers and their families embark on their first educational experience! Prior to teaching in the St. Vrain Valley School District, I was a teacher for 11 years in Jeffco, and I also taught for 5 years in Illinois.  This will be my 24th year in education! I have taught general education grades 1, 2, 3, & 5, and I was also an ESL (English as a second language) teacher and worked with teachers and students grades K-6.  I am thrilled to be starting this school year IN PERSON 5 days a week! I did not become a teacher to sit/teach in front of a computer, I became a teacher to see, hug and physically interact with my students each and everyday Monday through Friday! Outside of school I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family. I have a 9 year old daughter who keeps me busy! She is an aerialist, dancer and snow skier. This summer we traveled, traveled and traveled some more! It was wonderful to see family again and feel some normalcy in our lives!
