Message from the Principal
Dear Hygiene Families
We have had a great, very celebratory week here at Hygiene! It gives me great pleasure to share some remarkable news with you all. This past Wednesday, Hygiene Elementary School was awarded the prestigious John Irwin Award of Excellence by the Colorado Department of Education.
The John Irwin Award of Excellence is a testament to the exceptional dedication and commitment of our students, teachers, and staff. This award recognizes schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement and exceptional growth over time. It is a true honor and a testament to the outstanding educational environment we have cultivated at Hygiene Elementary.
I want to take a moment to recognize our incredible teachers and literacy specialist, Ms Moll. Their craftsmanship in small group reading instruction has played a pivotal role in our students’ academic success. Their hard work, creativity, and passion for teaching shine through in every classroom, and we are truly fortunate to have such an amazing team of educators.
As we celebrate this achievement, we are also looking ahead to an exciting event next week. Our annual Jogathon is just around the corner, scheduled for Thursday, September 28. This event has become a beloved tradition at Hygiene Elementary, and we can’t wait to see our students get moving and participate with enthusiasm. Parents, please join your child on Thursday to cheer them on. It’s about building a sense of community and teamwork.
In advance, I would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents and the entire Hygiene community for your generous donations to the school. Your support plays a crucial role in helping us reach our goals, and this year, our aim is to raise $30,000. Your contributions directly benefit our students and enhance their educational experience.
Let’s continue to work together to make Hygiene Elementary an exceptional place for learning and growth. We are immensely proud of our achievements and look forward to even more successes in the future.
Thank you for being an integral part of our wonderful Hygiene Community.
Have a great weekend!
Renee Collier
Hygiene Principal

Gifted & Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they
usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Kids Night Out
The first Kids Night Out is September 30th! Come show your support and help Silver Creek raise money for PSA!
This year Kids Night Out is partnering with a club at Silver Creek High School called Peace and Service for Africa. PSA raises money for the International Peace Initiative who puts the money toward kids in Maru, Kenya who are looking for higher education. With the money made from both of these, we hope to support more kids who are looking for a higher education. All the funds made at KNO will be put towards PSA.This project is important to us because we have seen and experienced the benefits Kids Night Out gives to children. Kids Night Out provides a great place for your child to socialize in a healthy and safe environment. They get to try new things and have multiple outlets to express themselves and have fun. Ellery and I greatly enjoyed going to Kids Night Out when we were little and are excited to run it this year. The reason why we are supporting Peace and Service for Africa is because we have both been a part of the club. The club has also helped with making friendships and connecting students with other students across the world. It’s important that everyone is given the same opportunities for education and sometimes in places this is not true. We want to help bridge this gap and support kids in Maru, Kenya seeking a higher education.
Please see the beautiful Kids Night Out Flyer here!!
