A Note from the Principal

Dear Hygiene Elementary Families,

Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I want to take a moment to share my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for each of you. Our Hygiene community continues to amaze me with its generosity, dedication, and unwavering support. During the holiday season, your kindness and contributions brought so much joy to our students and staff. Thank you for making this time of year extra special for everyone in our school.

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to announce the kick-off meeting for one of our most cherished school traditions—Hawk Air! This year, our students will embark on an immersive exploration of Vietnam, and we can’t wait to begin this incredible journey. We invite all interested parents to join us for the Hawk Air Vietnam Kick-Off Meeting on January 15 at 5:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in a school-wide event that not only educates but inspires our students through a hands-on experience of another country’s culture.

Hawk Air is a shining example of what makes Hygiene Elementary so special—the collaboration between our school and our extraordinary community. This event is only possible because of the time, energy, and creativity of our parent volunteers. Whether it’s helping to design interactive activities, creating cultural displays, or assisting with event logistics, there’s a place for everyone to contribute. Your involvement truly makes an impact, and we’d love to have you join us.

Thank you again for being such an integral part of our Hygiene Elementary family. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead, filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable memories. I look forward to seeing you at the Hawk Air meeting in January and throughout the many exciting moments we have planned for 2025.

With gratitude and warm wishes,

Renee Collier

Exciting News from the Library!!

We are thrilled to announce that we are going to have another fantastic Virtual Author Visit on Wednesday, January 22nd, With Nick Bruel – the author of the Bad Kitty books.  The event will start at 9:50, and we would like to have everyone log on by 9:45 in case there is a tech issue.  It is best if you do this without your camera on so we don’t have to worry about privacy as there will be another school doing this with us.  We will do this through Google Meet which is part of the whole google suite of things we have.  Also, the students will want to have a piece of paper and pencil ready because we will be learning to draw Bad Kitty.  Students can purchase autographed books in advance – that info will go in their Friday folder. This is such a great opportunity for our students.

What you need to know:

Date: Wednesday, January 22nd

Time: 9:45 (it’ll start at 9:50 but join at 9:45). It will last about 30 minutes

Place: Google meet – https://meet.google.com/ohp-ioyj-tiz

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, St. Vrain Valley Schools will offer five-day-a-week preschool programs. Families can explore a variety of high-quality preschool options tailored to meet families’ unique needs, including half-day morning and afternoon sessions, with full-day programs available at select locations. Registration for the upcoming school year began on December 17.

Visit svvsd.org/preschool for more details and registration information.

Once again, St. Vrain Valley School District, the Sunshine Club of Longmont and Salud Family Health are partnering up to provide dental screenings to all students. This year’s screenings at Hygiene will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Look for permission slips in this week’s Friday Folders. If you want your child to participate, simply fill out the form completely (in hard copy) and return it to our Health Clerk, Lisa Wilson, by Tuesday, January 7, 2025 (earlier would be ideal due to the upcoming holiday break). For your convenience, there is also the option to scan by QR code or visit saludschools.org to complete the form online.
