Welcome aboard Hawk Air, where the destination is not just a place but an exciting experience that will take you on a thrilling journey of learning, innovation, and exploration. Hawk Air is Hygiene Elementary’s annual capstone project, which is student-driven, teacher-facilitated, and parent-propelled.
This high-flying adventure combines STEAM learning with a design challenge to explore the culture of the chosen destination, Ecuador. Kindergarten and first grade students are tackling how to find solutions to the problems facing endangered species native to Ecuador while students in second through fifth grades are addressing how our actions might impact our global community in an effort to slow deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. Not only will students develop innovative and creative solutions, but they will learn strategies to effectively communicate and solve problems for the betterment of the world.
Hawk Air culminates with a public open house at Hygiene Elementary on Thursday, May 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. We invite you to join us on this year’s journey to Ecuador and immerse yourself in the architecture, art, food, music, and more.
For the past 14 years, Hawk Air has made a significant impact on the community, bringing everyone together in a unique and meaningful way. Fasten your seatbelt and get ready to soar to new heights with Hawk Air!
