A Note from the Principal

Dear Hygiene Families:

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share how grateful I am for the wonderful Hygiene community. Each day, I see the kindness, joy, and curiosity that our Hawks bring to their learning and friendships, and I know that so much of that comes from the love and support they receive at home.

The holidays are a time to pause and appreciate the little moments that make life special—a shared laugh, a warm hug, or even the simple joy of sitting together as a family. I hope that each of you finds time to embrace the magic of this season, whether that’s through cherished traditions, new experiences, or moments of rest and reflection.

As we say farewell to 2024, I want to thank all of you for the role you play in making our school a special place. The dedication of our families, the enthusiasm of our students, and the hard work of our staff make Hygiene Elementary such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

When we return from the holiday break on Monday, January 7th, the new year will bring plenty of exciting opportunities for our Hawks to shine. January will be a busy and rewarding month, and I encourage you to mark these key dates on your calendar:

  • Monday, January 21st: Our All School Spelling Bee is a fantastic event where students showcase their skills and determination. It’s always a joy to see their hard work in action, and we hope you’ll join us in cheering them on!
  • Thursday, January 24th: Our Yearbook Cover Contest is Due by the end of the day.
  • Tuesday, January 29th & Wednesday, January 30th: The STEAM Fair is one of the highlights of the year. This is a time for students to explore their creativity, solve problems, and share their innovative ideas. It’s an inspiring event that celebrates learning and discovery in such a fun and interactive way.

I look forward to welcoming everyone back in January with fresh energy and enthusiasm for all the opportunities ahead. Until then, I hope your holiday season is filled with love, laughter, and a sense of wonder. Thank you for being such an important part of our school family.

Wishing you and your loved ones a beautiful holiday season and a happy new year!

With warmth and gratitude,
Renee Collier

St. Vrain Preschool Expands to Five-Day-A-Week Programs
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, St. Vrain Valley Schools will offer five-day-a-week preschool programs. Families can explore a variety of high-quality preschool options tailored to meet families’ unique needs, including half-day morning and afternoon sessions, with full-day programs available at select locations. Registration for the upcoming school year begins on December 17.

Visit svvsd.org/preschool for more details and registration information.

Once again, St. Vrain Valley School District, the Sunshine Club of Longmont and Salud Family Health are partnering up to provide dental screenings to all students. This year’s screenings at Hygiene will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Look for permission slips in this week’s Friday Folders. If you want your child to participate, simply fill out the form completely (in hard copy) and return it to our Health Clerk, Lisa Wilson, by Tuesday, January 7, 2025 (earlier would be ideal due to the upcoming holiday break). For your convenience, there is also the option to scan by QR code or visit saludschools.org to complete the form online.
