Hello! My name is Katie Peterson and I am so excited to be back in St. Vrain Valley Schools this year! This is my 11th year teaching and 6th at Hygiene Elementary. I am originally from Upstate New York where I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education with Special Education at SUNY Geneseo, and I began my teaching career in Champaign, IL. There, I was also able to earn a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois. Currently, I am also the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Silver Creek High School here in Longmont. I absolutely love the opportunity to teach fifth graders, and especially love to hone in on math skills. I believe in a strong partnership between teachers and families to make sure every student is successful in the classroom!
