Dear Parents and Guardians:
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. As we enter the holiday season, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to everyone who makes it possible for our Hygienestudents to come to school ready to learn every day. In addition, I want to thank our outstanding teachers and staff for their commitment, passion and energy they bring every day to our students. I also want to thank all the parents and students for coming to our STEAM Night. As we enter the month of December, I want to take this opportunity to provide you with some updates.
Do you have or know a preschooler student ready for kindergarten next year? Do you have a friend hoping to open enroll a student at Hygiene? Please help us spread the word thatkindergarten registration for the 2018-2019 school year is right around the corner. The application window opens on December 1 and full day kindergarten fills up quickly. Preschool registration begins on January 2nd. Please see our website for more information and materials.
First trimester has been extremely successful at Hygiene. Report cards will be available on December 1, 2017 on Infinite Campus. I encourage you to contact school staff with any questions/concerns about your child’s progress or attendance. The report cards align with therigorous state standards and common core. In addition, it provides information about student progress towards mastering standards. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for questions.
The All School Spelling Bee is on December 7th at 2:00 pm. Parents are welcome to attend this event. We are very proud of the students for their hard work.
The 100 Mile Club is a wonderful success and the Soaring Hawks are fit, energetic and ready to learn! We will have a Jingle Bell Run for the Hygiene Community December 9th from 9-10 am. This will be held at Pella Crossing. Please bundle up and join us for a winter run. Mark your calendars for our Arts Night for grades PreK-2 on December 12th at 5:30 pm. Our very talented and awesome choir will be performing as well. In the spring, we will have Arts Night for grades 3-5.
Calling all parent volunteers! We are getting ready to begin planning and creating our Hawk Air Future for March 21st and 22nd. Parents, are you interested in building and creating an environment that is futuristic, innovative and sustainable? We need your help as this is our capstone school wide project that is truly an out of this world experience for our students. If you are interested in helping support your class, please reach out to your child’s teacher as soon as possible so we can get everyone on the list. Your involvement can be as little or as much as you like including creating things at home. We appreciate the support and can only make this happen with the help of all of you!
As we start our winter holiday season, I want to wish everyone a safe, warm and memorable winter holiday. Whether you are traveling or staying here for the holidays, I hope all of you can enjoy some time together with family and friends. I am so grateful and honored to serve as your principal.
