Three Fun Summer Challenges!

Summertime!  The pool, the games, the vacations…and keeping students engaged!   Here are some great opportunities to keep your students engaged in learning over the summer…

Summer MyOn
Spending 30-40 minutes each day on MyOn this summer can help your reading comprehension, increase your knowledge, and cure boredom.  Start a new series , learn to code, or check out one of the many craft books and make something fun.  And did we mention the prizes?  Also, the school could win up to $2500! Remember, time only counts while you are actively reading a book, not while you are browsing the library.  This contest runs from May 22nd through August 13th and includes all Hygiene students, including those who are moving on to 6th grade next year.  As an added bonus, Ms Johnston has added some “Summer Challenges” to the student projects folder.  Completion of these challenges will earn you a prize from Ms Johnston.  AND…our awesome SRO, Officer Ken, will treat the top two school readers to a ride-along in his patrol car to lunch!  Questions?  Please see the Hygiene website.

POP Into Reading Summer Challenge

And there’s more!  The district is also sponsoring a POP Into Reading Summer Challenge.  Students who read at least 5 books this summer and complete their reading log will be invited to celebrate with POPcorn and POPsicles!  The top 15 readers, with Ms. Johnston, will be invited to participate in the catered Book Talk lunch in our library to discuss the books they enjoyed over the summer.  Please

Summer Soaring

Wait!!!  That’s not it!  In Friday Folders at the end of the year, a pamphlet about Summer Soaring was sent home.  The Hygiene PTO sponsors the Summer Soaring 100 Club to support parents in motivating their students throughout the summer.  Once students (heading into K-5 next year) complete that form and turn it into their new teacher in the fall, they will be invited to attend the incentive party the first week of school.  Need another flier?  We have more fliers in the office if you need one.
