Here is the May newsletter. It is filled with important dates and details. We look forward to next week's assembly on May 7 with Vinny Castilla. We will be sending out a communication later today but we encourage everyone to wear Rockies gear.
4th grade PARCC starts on Monday. Have a great weekend
Our fabulous 3rd grade teacher, Nina Pears submitted an essay to "Be a Learning Hero". This is a project created to keep parents informed on educational matters. They have informed us that Hygiene Elementary School is the winner of the Game Plan for Success Contest. The contest awards schools that are "hitting it out of the park" with higher standards, clear expectations and classroom support.
As a way to say thank you to the school, Eco-Cycle will be purchasing, donating and delivering a truckload of finished compost to the school on April 22nd and 23rd. It will be available from 8:35 am until 5:30 pm each day for students, parents and staff of Hygiene Elementary to take home (bring your own bags, buckets, shovels and trowels; no pick-up truck loads please.
The Hygiene choir will be performing at the district Art Show tonight at 6:00pm at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.
Tonight, we will hold our final PTO meeting at 7:00 pm. We will hold elections for the PTO board for 2015-2016 school year. In addition, we will be discussing the Design Thinking Process (this is an instructional process that teachers are using in the classrooms in all grades). Childcare will be provided.
It is with sadness that our preschool teacher, Cathy Doetkott has accepted a full time position at Alpine Elementary for the 2015-16 school year. She has been teaching kindergarten at Alpine half time this year as well as preschool half time here at Hygiene. Cathy will be greatly missed.
