- Community Schools
Hygiene is a small, beautiful community and I am lucky to be starting my 12th year here at Hygiene Elementary School as one of the literacy support teachers. Watching kids as they run, (or rather walk quickly) into the building in the mornings, so happy and excited to be here, makes me smile.
My hope is that all of my students will develop the joy of reading. Targeting the specific academic, social and emotional needs of my readers helps them build confidence and skill in reading.
Through my training in multi sensory instruction (Orton Gillingham and Linda Mood Bell) along with my 20 years of teaching experience and my endorsements in GT and ELL education, I have gained the knowledge that I need to help students succeed. In addition to my continued training and coursework focusing on students with dyslexia, I plan to learn more about identifying twice exceptional students, (students who are both gifted and have a learning disability).
Who would have thought that getting my teaching license at The University of California in Santa Barbara and my Master’s Degree in Reading from The University of Northern Colorado would lead me down this wonderful path?
