- Community Schools
My name is Rebecca Knapp but my friends and co-workers call me Becky. I am the part time Special Education teacher at Hygiene Elementary and I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful team, school, and community. I live up in the mountains north of Lyons and in my spare time I enjoy hiking, swimming and exploring this gorgeous place we call home. I also love watching the Rockies play and reading great books, especially science fiction. I grew up in California on the coast but when I moved to Colorado after college I just knew I would never move back! So I earned a Masters in Special Education from UNC and I started my teaching career in northern Colorado. I have taught and supported students in their learning from Kindergarten to 10th grade. I worked for almost seven years as a classroom aid, teacher, and interventionist in Fort Collins and Westminster before working as a private tutor from home. I have three wonderful children, ages 7,10, and 13, who keep me super busy with their fun and activities and always keep me laughing. I believe every child can reach their academic potential with the right creative strategies and a positive, growth-focused attitude. I am truly excited to be returning to my passion and teaching the incredible kids here at Hygiene. I know it will be a remarkable year!
